COVID-19 Relevant Information (Update)

As OLIVARES previously informed, due the contingency measures adopted to prevent the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus; federal and local jurisdictional authorities, including the Civil Courts, suspended their activities from March 18 to July 31, 2020, leaving only shift to post guard in cases of urgency and decreed that no procedural terms would run during said period.

In this regard and considering that labors and procedural terms from local Civil Courts have just been resumed on August 3, the Mexico City Judicial Council has emitted new dispositions regarding the return to activities, according to the Sanitarian warnings, highlighting the following:

  • The Courts will alternate to work one day behind closed doors and another with access to the public, depending on the number of each Court house (odd or even). The procedural terms will be suspended whenever each Court is working behind closed doors.
  • The Courts will only receive a maximum of 10 people at a time, for the review of official files.
  • A central filing office will be operating and is obliged to receive any type of briefs addressed to any Court, even those addressed to Courts working behind closed doors.
  • People may schedule appointments to file any type of writs, not only initial briefs.

OLIVARES will keep monitoring and informing regarding any updates.
